Compassion Center Goes Mobile; Bringing Services to the Unsheltered 

July 7, 2021 — Gilroy, CA — Beginning Aug. 1, the center will shift its service delivery to a mobile system in order to fulfill the basic needs of more unsheltered South County residents. Our hope is by bringing our services directly to our clients, we’ll be able to reach all our unsheltered residents through a more equitable and accessible delivery system.

December 11, 2020 — Gilroy, CA — We often hear that many homeless people were just like the rest of us until they could no longer get by and wound up on the streets. Juliana Padilla, who runs the front desk at the Gilroy Compassion Center, knows the truth of that better than most. “My biological father is homeless,” Padilla says. “I always think of places like this and people like my dad visiting them.”

An Open Letter From A Homeless Woman In LA 


February 10,2019 — Los Angeles, CA —Keanakay Scott cried when she read a story about a public meeting over a proposed emergency shelter and permanent housing for the homeless. One of the local homeowners who attended the meeting later told LAist that he thought authorities should build a "reservation" for homeless people "somewhere out in the desert." Scott has been homeless for a decade. She said the story "broke" her.
